. Dubai Courts and the Ministry of Economy and Tourism have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of intellectual property rights. The MoU includes the exchange of expertise and legal consultations related to copyright, trademarks, and patents, in addition to organizing local and international workshops and awareness events to promote the importance of protecting the rights of creators and innovators. It also covers collaboration in developing IP-related legislation in line with international standards.. . The MoU was signed by His Excellency Prof. Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Dubai Courts, and H.E. Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, at the Dubai Courts headquarters, in the presence of senior officials from both sides.. . Attending from Dubai Courts were His Excellency Abdulrahim Hussain Ahli, Executive Director of the Establishment Support and Communication Sector and Communication Sector; H.E. Mohammed Al Obaidli, Executive Director of the Case Management Sector; H.E. Ibrahim Al Housani, Executive Director of the Settlement and Execution Sector; Counselor Khamis Al Mutawa, Director of the Technical Office of the Director of Dubai Courts; and Ms. Alia Al Majid, Director of Strategy and Corporate Performance.. . Representing the Ministry of Economy and Tourism were H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Muaini, Assistant Undersecretary for the Intellectual Property Sector; Mr. Marwan Khalifa Al Sabousi, Director of the Copyright and Related Rights Department; Mr. Fawzi Al Jaberi, Director of the Trademark Department; Ms. Marwa Al Harmoudi, Acting Director of Innovation Development and Industrial Property; and Ms. Noha Yahya Ahmed, from the Office of the Assistant Undersecretary for the Intellectual Property Sector.. On this occasion, His Excellency Prof. Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Dubai Courts, affirmed that the signing of this MoU reflects Dubai Courts' commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation with government entities, in support of the ongoing legislative and judicial development in the UAE and in alignment with the vision of the country's leadership to reinforce a knowledge and innovation-based economy.. He stated : “This MoU reflects Dubai Courts' vision to build strategic partnerships that advance the intellectual property protection ecosystem and enhance community awareness of its role in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship. Protecting the rights of creators and innovators is fundamental to reinforcing confidence in the legislative and judicial framework and supports the UAE's efforts to build a sustainable, knowledge-driven economy.. For his part, H.E. Abdullah Al Saleh emphasized the Ministry's commitment to strengthening cooperation with federal and local entities to enhance the integration and sustainability of the national intellectual property protection system and improve enforcement mechanisms. He noted that the signing of this MoU reflects the Ministry's dedication to promoting a culture that safeguards the rights of creators and innovators, and to building collaborative partnerships with judicial and executive bodies to raise public awareness of the importance of IP protection and its role in supporting the competitiveness and sustainability of the national economy.. He added that cooperation with Dubai Courts represents an important step toward unifying national efforts in this field and strengthening integration between the judicial and executive frameworks in protecting IP rights. He also highlighted the Ministry's continued efforts to foster innovation across sectors by developing legislation and incentive policies, increasing registrations related to copyrights, patents, industrial designs, and trademarks, and implementing training and awareness programs that build a generation knowledgeable about IP rights and capable of transforming ideas into innovative economic projects.. The agreement also provides for joint work on developing IP-related legislation in line with international standards, coordinating efforts to ensure effective application of relevant laws across judicial entities, and launching joint research projects that contribute to expanding knowledge and supporting the UAE's innovation ecosystem.. .
